New Business

Earth Day Celebration - Earth Day is Tuesday, April 22.  We will ask Girl Scout’s to help coordinate Kid’s Earth Day Project.  Kathy is researching potential speakers.  We will have informational tables.  The group discussed an appropriate day and tentatively selected April 26th for the Bee Cave Earth Day Celebration.

Bee Cave History Project – This is a Friends’ Project.  The FOL need to coordinate with Elaine Perkins to obtain the Western Travis County Historical Society information.  Sandra, Jane, and Debbie will schedule a meeting with Elaine and prepare an inventory of the information.  Once that has been accomplished, alternatives for digitizing and storing the information will be evaluated.  A $10,000 grant was given to the library specifically for this project.

The FOL group has been linked to the Randall’s Good Neighbor Program.  Our number is 11828 and once the card is linked, the FOL will get a percentage of the purchase.

Shannon gave a report on the opportunity to donate books to the school library in Jamaica.  The school has 275 students from 1-9 grade level and books ranging from pre-school to high school level are being collected.  The woman Shannon is working with is willing to come to the library and pick up the books and ship them to Jamaica.   Shannon asked that the Friends contact her with any thoughts or ideas about this opportunity.  Pat also has a source for donated books.  She and Shannon will work together on this project.
