Welcome and Introductions

Kathy Albert called the meeting to order at 1:30. Introduction of attendees: Kathy Albert, Dyan Emerson, Elena Reid, Shannon Atherton, Paulette Madison, Angela Palmer, Barbara Hathaway, and Debbie Opdahl

Minutes

Minutes from the September 20, 2007 meeting are posted on the website. Kathy will send an email notification when minutes are posted.

Treasurer Report

Kathy gave the Treasurer Report and reported that the FOL has a current balance of $1401.47.

Update on New Building

City Hall grand opening and ribbon cutting is scheduled for October 26, 2007.

Bee Cave Library opening is scheduled for November 29.

Membership Drive Report

Discussed staffing a table for membership drive at the Barnes and Nobles opening weekend, October 28.

Grant Writing Report

Sandra continues to obtain information on Western Travis County history, including a list from the LCRA of all property owners along the Colorado River before the dam system was built. Sandra and several other FOL members will meet within the next week to finalize a grant for a display case for the new library. Ideas for future grants for programs, including author talks, genealogy, gardening, and cooking were also discussed.

Historian/Reporter Report

Dyan and Kathy continue to work on the Friends’ scrapbook.

Communications

Kathy and Laura are working on a communications plan, including more newspaper articles.

Library Director Report

The Bee Cave library hosted a reception for home school families. The new Cinemark theater at the Hill Country Galleria will host a benefit for the library on October 24, 2007. All proceeds from concessions will be donated to the library.
