            Welcome and Introductions

 

Kathy Albert called the meeting to order at 1:30.  Introduction of attendees: Kathy Albert, Dyan Emerson, Shannon Atherton, Sandra Johnson, Lorna Harger, Helen Ginger, Stina Hill, Barbara Hathaway, and Debbie Opdahl

 

Minutes

 

Meeting minutes will be posted on the website.  Any changes to the October 18, 2007 minutes should be emailed to Debbie. Kathy will send an email notification when minutes are posted.

           

Treasurer Report

 

Kathy gave the Treasurer Report.  An additional $60 has been added to the FOL balance, bringing the total to $1461.47.

 

 

Grant Writing Report

 

The HEB grant has been completed and is ready to be mailed.  This grant will be used for a display case for the new library.  Future grant money will be used to bring programs to the library.          

Membership Drive Report

 

Discussed putting FOL Membership table at library grand opening.

 

Historian Report

 

Shannon has a co-worker that is interested in helping with scrapbooking.  She will give the co-worker Dyan’s contact information.

 

Communications

 

Kathy needs assistance with submitting articles to the Lake Travis View and the Austin American Statesman.

 

 

 

 

 

New Business

           

1.      Programs for 2008

·        Genealogy workshop – Sandra will co-chair the genealogy workshop.  Barnes and Nobles is interested in working with FOL on this program. Will publicize at Barnes and Nobles and the Lake Travis View.  Will serve, and charge for, box lunches or refreshments.  Recommend the program start at the beginner level.  Two dates were suggested, February 13 and February 20.

·        Gardening workshop – Tie into Earth Day on April 22, 2008.  Barnes and Nobles could participate with a list of gardening books.  FOL will try to get a grant to fund this program from Lowe’s or Home Depot.  Potential speakers:  the Dirt Doctor and Susan Willig Albert.

·        One Book/One Community – Partner with Lake Travis Community Library, and Lake Travis High School library to select a book to be read by the community.  A committee will recommend books and then the community will vote to select the final book.

 

Director’s Report

 

            Barbara reported that shelving for the new library has arrived and is being installed.  The carpet is not complete.
